South Africa’s parole board has announced that Olympic athlete, Oscar Pistorius will be released from prison and will be placed under house arrest on Tuesday.
Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of Culpable homicide after he shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his home in February 2013.
Sentenced last year, Pistorius has served 12 years of his jail term and will spend the rest of his jail term under house arrest.
The prosecutors who brought charges against Pistorius have appealed, insisting that he should be tried for murder.
