649,300 Tramadol 225mg capsules and 809,850 Euros in cash were among consignments intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos, where operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, also prevented various quantities of Heroin and other illicit drugs from being exported to the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.
Anti-narcotic officers seized 649,300 Tramadol 225mg capsules weighing 460.95kg imported from Pakistan via Addis Ababa Ethiopian Airlines at the Skyway Aviation Handling Company cargo facility at the airport on Wednesday 16th February. In conjunction with the seizure, Nwadu Ekene Christian, a suspect, was arrested.
Over four other people were arrested differently but also involved in traveling with illicit drugs and cash.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, commended the officers and men of the MMIA, DOGI, Kano, Adamawa, and FCT Commands for the arrests and seizures, and charged them and their colleagues across the country to intensify the offensive action against all drug cartels in every part of Nigeria.
Both cash seizures are currently under investigation to establish if they are proceeds of the drug business.
