As far as cover girls go, you can’t find any other celebrity that sells better than RihRih. The Barbadian star has hard data that proves her covers do better than any other celebrity — even much celebrated white ones.
According to Fortune.com reports: By MTV’s count, Rihanna has graced the cover of magazines 19 times within the span of a year. That includes Vogue, S Moda, W, Elle, Vogue (again, but the Brazilian version), Ebony, W (this time in Korea), Harper’s Bazaar, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia edition, Harper’s Bazaar special edition…and others.
Infact, the placement of her countenance upon Harper’s front page helped tick newsstand sales up 0.8% to 120,000 copies, according to Women’s Wear Daily. The bump represents a major boon for an industry beset by steadily declining revenue.
The amazing thing about the Grammy award winner is that she doesn’t need manufactured stories, or stories about who is chopping her down or what her dysfunctional family is doing. The books sell off the strength of her talent and beauty alone!
Here are the top magazines Rihanna covered in 2015:
On the cover of ‘The New York Times’ Style Magazine, Rihanna was named one of “The Great”. She joins a select list that includes Karl Lagerfeld, Quentin Tarantino, Steve McQueen, author Jonathan Franzen, and health technology entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes.
In 2015, Look Magazine (United Kingdom) had one mission, that is to have the multi-platinum singer grace the cover of their magazine.
Also in 2015, Rihanna was able to extend her influence to Europe, when she covered Cosmopolitan Magazine (Germany) in July.
Even Asia could not resist RihRih, as she was on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Magazine Cover [China] for April, 2015.
In March, 2015, Rihanna was also on the cover of AnOther Magazine [United Kingdom].
While RiRi simply glows for the Harper’s Bazaar Magazine Cover in a custom-made, bronze-hued jumpsuit by Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, it’s her underwater photo that has everyone’s jaws on the floor. The “FourFiveSeconds” singer didn’t just roll around the shore for the shoot, she literally went swimming with the sharks. Real, live, actual sharks.
For any skeptics out there, Harper’s Bazaar even shared behind-the-scene footage of Rihanna taking a deep dive into the tank at the Florida Aquarium in Tampa amongst the aquatic life — including three sand tiger sharks that are at least eight feet long. Amazing.
One word, Rihanna killed it on the Cover of Vogue’s Met Gala 2015 Issue!
Fader Magazine also had the opportunity to have Rihanna on their cover.
Rihanna looks absolutely flawless while posing for the cover of Dior magazine in September. The magazine only releases four issues a year and this was the 11th issue put into print so far. The theme of the issue is “Le Bestiaire,” a reference to the Autumn/Winter 2015 collection. The issue has been translated into 10 languages: French, English, Italian, Spanish, German, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Japanese.
Rihanna was definitely proud of the gorgeous images as she shared nine of them on her Instagram account!
Rihanna traded in her 4/20 grocery store munchies wear for, well, not all that much clothing at all to cover V magazine in April. Donning a blonde wig and neon makeup, Riri is looking different than normal, but no less flawless.
This was one cover we saw a different Rihanna looking more like the legendary rapper Da Brat when she covered the i-D magazine.
Rihanna has been gracing a plethora of magazine covers within the last few months and she always took to social media to celebrate her newest covers.
In the midst of Fashion Week and All-Star Weekend, Rihanna still found time to utilized the social media platform to showcase her stint as the cover girl for the W Magazine’s 10th anniversary issue.
