The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife has lost its accreditation for Law, Dentistry, Botany and Medical Rehabilitation.
Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), who are in charge of admissions into higher institutions of learning in the country has been asking affected candidates who choose the school to either opt for other courses or change their choice of institution from OAU to any other with accreditation.
The message sent to the candidates by JAMB said: āYour first choice course did not receive accreditation. Login to your profile and change course/ institutions.ā
This won’t be the first time Law as a course would be disaccredited at Obafemi Awolowo University. The accreditation for the university’s law faculty was also withdrawn in 2006. Botany on the other hand was never fully accredited.
The University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, has said the university is working round the clock to address the issue and said it would be resolved by September.
