The North London Derby is one of the most promising fixtures in the Barclays Premier League. Bitter rivals, Tottenaham and Arsenal are always certain to slug it out and give it their all, and today’s derby was no different.
Arsenal were coming right off the bat from a forgettable 5-1 drubbing from Bayern Munich and would definitely have hoped to grab a win in front of their home fans today as consolation. Additionally, their loss in the UEFA Champions League means that their only realistic hope of silverware is the BPL.
Tottenham on the other hand have found their rhythym under Mauricio Pochettino, managing to avoid defeat in the premier league for 10 games.
Tottenham started brightly in a first half where Arsenal seemed to still have thoughts of the Allianz Arena on their mind and Harry Kane’s headed goal was a brilliant summary of the first half. Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez didn’t have the best games of their lives as Arsenal struggled.
Cazorla was taken off in the second half and Arsenal took control of the match for a spell in the second half and will perhaps have to thank Hugo Lloris for a shameful error which enabled Gibbs to score the equaliser.
Arsenal had chances to win the match thanks to the brilliant Mesut Ozil but they had Olivier Giroud’s profligacy to thank for a match where both teams had to split the spoils.
