Waje is here again after a rather unwarranted hiatus. She serves us “Coco Baby”, an eclectic blend of Afro pop and Bongo flava with an active mix of instrumentals that sound both traditional and synthesized. Cool song.
The Ekelly-Waje partnership isn’t anything new to our ears and playlists, sometime around the close of last year they put out a smashing effort in “Omni Knowest”, a superb song that failed to take off owing to deficiencies in her promotion team. Unsuitable waste of music from an A-list, if you ask us. Although what is more painful is the fact of Waje never doing much musically in the course of the year only to spring up as things wind up with a buzz. It is hard to think a Singer in her mould doesn’t know what effects these wanton breaks could have on her music.
Anyways, this is a sizzling one off her kitchen, cooked to near perfection with all the right condiments in her relatable lyrics, radio-readiness and all that; but it fails in aspects of serving us nothing of particular inventiveness from the big Singer. Still, this makes for a hit only if her Promotion team knew exactly what their jobs required.
Listen and rate.
