“Letter Days” is a simple, slow jam; remindful of the earlier times pre-social networking and Instant Messaging and all that, serving to bring to mind all the narratives of a boy-girl relationship in such times. Interesting flashback, really.
Tosin Martins is comfortable on this, oozing the regular fun style and expressive vocals that this requires of him. And so is Waje who puts in some rich, clear delivery upon the cut. Both deliveries rest on saxophone undertone and talking drum infusions, all brushed up with some buzzing guitar strings. The young ones can relate to this, as well as the older class for whom this is originally intended, and perhaps more suiting. It’s an interesting effort, not exactly heavy with a complex theme, just something for some light nostalgic back and forth swings that border on romance and puppy love. Fun stuff, original and replay worthy.
