FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi recently had some high praise for Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, who many believe will win the next Ballon d’Or.
Ronaldo won both the La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles with Los Blancos in the 2016/17 campaign, which fans believe will help him draw level on five Ballons d’or with Messi.
The Argentine was recently asked if he and the Portuguese use each other as motivation to perform to the best of their abilities, and he denied that sentiment, saying they both strive to do the best for their clubs.
“No, I have always said it and (Ronaldo) from his part that he is armed with the presence of us both,” Messi told Tencent.
“We try to achieve the best every year for our team, and what is said outside of that I don’t think is very important.
“He is a phenomenal player with a lot of quality. All the world knows, and that is why he is one of the best of the world.”
