Lagos Senators Endorse Fashola
The Nigerian political scene has witnessed considerable excitement in the past week, with the submission of the ministerial list to the Senate.
The initial 21 man list contained the names of former Lagos and Rivers state governor, Babatunde Fashola and Rotimi Amaechi.
The screening of ministerial nominees took a new and unexpected turn when the Senate resolved that the nominees would require approval from two Senators from their state.
The former Governor of Lagos State received a boost to his confirmation when Senator Gbenga Ashafa representing the Lagos East senatorial district announced his backing.
Ashafa announced that Fashola had received the backing of all three senators representing Lagos for his “good work”.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Solomon Adeola are the other two Senators.
Ashafa said, “We considered the good work Tunde Fashola did in the 8 years he led our dear state and we believe he would be a worthy ambassador of Lagos state in the Federal Executive Council,” Sen. Ashafa said. “We trust his judgement and his intelligence. He put Lagos on the world map and we are proud to call him our own. We believe he will do very well in whatever role he is assigned by our fearless and visionary leader, President Muhammadu Buhari.”
