The embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, yesterday challenged the federal government to investigate all persons who have links to the Boko Haram sect.
Sheriff stated this while reacting to the statement by the Borno State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kaka Shehu, who called for his arrest at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference in Port Harcourt, for allegedly sponsoring the terrorist group.
This is even as the former deputy national publicity secretary (PDP), Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, yesterday disclosed that Sheriffโs arrest would end Boko Haram insurgency, daring the former governor of Borno State to go to court and prove that they cooked allegation against him.
Sheriff who spoke through his media aide, Inuwa Bwala said,ย โWe have waited for this opportunity and this statement coming from official of state government, I think they have shot themselves on the foot by falling into the trap we set for them.
โAnd so from the position of the attorney general of Borno State on the sponsorship of Boko Haram, we challenge the federal government, to as a matter of urgency, investigate, no matter who is involved, to expose those whose antecedents show they have links with Boko Haram.โ
He added, โThis is one coming from somebody whoโs supposed to know the law. It is one allegation too many, because Sheriff has already initiated processes of slamming N10 billion suit against the Attorney General and Borno State government, unless he proves otherwise that what he said is backed with evidences, the law will catch up with him.โ
โThat is to say, the attorney general may have to face us in court to explain where he got the fact of his statement from.
