An Indonesian aircraft belonging to Trigana Air has reportedly gone missing today. The Trigana Air ATR 42 turboprop which took off from the Sentani airport lost contact with the control tower at around 3pm local time.
The aircraft, which had 54 people on board lost contact just 34 minutes after take off around the Papua region. The flight was heading to the town of Oksibil.
Bad weather has prevented a search from commencing and there are no details as of this time as to what likely happened to the aircraft.
The past year has been less than encouraging for the Indonesian aviation industry with two plane crashes in the last one year and safety of air-flights has become a real concern.
