An unnamed teenager found guilty of gangrape alongside five other men in 2012 is to be released on Sunday.
A 23 year old physiotherapy student was gangraped in 2012 on her way home when she was dragged down from a bus she was on. She died a few hours later from injuries sustained during the incident.
One of the rapists was a minor at the time of the incident and pursuant to Indian law, his name was not disclosed.
He was sentenced to three years in a juvenile facility and is due to be released on Sunday.
Although the parents of the victim have tried to stop his impending release, claiming he is a “danger to society”,the Delhi High court has paved way for his release.
His impending release has once again stirred public outrage among people who insist that he should have been tried as an adult in the first place.
