Seun Kuti, son of legendary Fela Anikulapo kuti is in Nairobi for “Private business”. He however said that he was able to meet and interact with Kenyan artists such as Aaron Rimbui, Muthoni Ndong’a, Grandmaster Masese and Just A band.
The Afro beat icon also had wise counsel for Kenyan youth this election year.
“As we all know democracy is hard to achieve and practice. You need to participate by voting. Protect your vote because it is all that you have.”
Seun was very conspicuous and vocal during the Occupy Nigerian Movement that was in response to the fuel grant removal by the Federal government of Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan in January 2012.
He said, “I guess it was a success because we curbed the exercise. We made the government realise that people have to be treated with consideration.”
He also talked about his Dad, Fela Kuti;
“Growing up with my Dad was memorable in so many ways. By the time I was born, his activism days were behind him. I remember he was a good story teller.”
