Osun state governor, Rauf Aregbesola has been been in the news all year for his administration’s inability to pay the salaries of civil servants in the state. Recently, Osun state workers resumed a strike action to protest non payment of salaries.
A recipient of service to humanity award yesterday, he took the time to once again explain the reason why his administration hasn’t paid salaries. He said; “I have found it hard to pay the wage bills owing to the declining federal allocation to the state.
“Federal allocation to the state has reduced by 40 per cent since 2013, thereby making it difficult for my government to meet its responsibilities,”
He empathized with the plight of Osun state civil servants and pledged that he was doing his best to correct the situation; *I got into politics so that I can render quality services to the suffering people of my state because majority of the people are hungry and angry,”
