Barely one week after the launch of GOtv in Abeokuta on 1 August, GOtv signals were switched on in Ilesa & Ede (Osun state), Iseyin (Oyo state) and Makurdi (Benue state).
Having already held launch events in Osun and Oyo states; all roads led to Makurdi for the launch which held from Tuesday, 19 to 21 August. The launch activities began with a press briefing and interviews on Radio Benue and Harvest FM both in Makrudi.
Because Makurdi residents had been eagerly waiting for the launch of GOtv, there were already a good number of subscribers even before our official launch. To this end, in the morning of the consumer launch, on 20 August, GOtv hosted the first 100 subscribers at a GOcustomer forum. The GOcustomer forum gave us the opportunity to educate the subscribers on various self-service options available and the digital migration.
From the venue of the GOcustomer forum, we moved to the Cool-off Park where we held an open air concert hosted by Radio Benue’s On-air-personality, Henry Ipole aka H316, Archbishop of the Microphone Diocese supported by comedian Eneche.
In GOtv’s characteristic nature of adding local spice to its events, the gig saw performances from local artists, Biggie Brown, Jumabie and TK Swags while EyesixOne and Benue Michael Jackson dazzled GOtv fans and subscribers with their electrifying dance steps. There was also lots of comedy from the award-winning comedian, Pastor Nicodemus.
Finally, the team led by the GM GOtv, Elizabeth Amkpa paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Chief Steven Lawani ‘OFR’ and presented him with a GOtv decoder.
