Ese Brume Bags World Athletics Championship Long Jump Silver
Nigeria’s Ese Brume has won a silver medal in the women’s long jump at the World Athletics Championship in Eugene, Oregon.
She positioned second behind German Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo, who continued her reign in the women’s long jump by soaring to a second successive World Championship gold with a final leap of 7.12 meters on Sunday.
The silver medal, attained with a leap of 7.02m, was an improvement for Brume, who had won a bronze medal last time out at the World Championship.
Brazil’s Leticia Oro Melo took bronze with 6.89m.
Mihambo also beat Brume to gold at the Tokyo Olympics.
Brume’s platform finish came just minutes after Tobi Amusan won a maiden World Championship gold for Nigeria in the 100m hurdles.
And the world record holder was on hand to celebrate with her Team Nigeria buddy.
