The insecurity in North Eastern Nigeria has escalated in the past few weeks with as many as 500 people estimated to have died between May 29 and today.
Most of the attacks are believed to be orchestrated by the fundamentalist group, Boko Haram. A raid in a village in Borno state today has left eight people dead.
The attack reportedly took place in the village of Pompomari and the son of a village chief was also allegedly killed by unknown gunmen who are suspected to be Boko Haram militants.
