COVID-19: 17 Corps Members Hospitalised In Edo State
At least seventeen corps members deployed to Edo State, for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have been admitted to the hospital after they showed symptoms of the dreaded COVID-19.
According to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Edo Government-owned hospital, Dr. Osagie Ebomwonyi, the corps members were admitted to Stella Obasanjo Hospital, for treatment.
Ebomwonyi, who spoke while in the company of Governor Godwin Obaseki during an inspection tour of the state’s infectious disease isolation center at the hospital in Benin, stated that even though the cases were unvaccinated, they were undertaking studies and analysis to find out if there was Delta variant in the state.
Mr. Ozeto Waheed, a personal assistant, to the state coordinator of the youth scheme, confirmed the seventeen corps members were mobilised to serve in the state.
However, the governor expressed the government’s readiness to deal effectively with the Delta variant of coronavirus, noting that there had been no confirmed case of the deadly variant of the virus in the state.
