Cory’s father Joe, who was estranged from his son at the time of his death recently took part in an interview where he remembered his late son.
Here’s what he said about his son in an
interview:
“I still miss him very much. I still have the empty feeling inside. Cory was a likeable young man and if he was in the room, you’d be smiling. He enjoyed life. That’s why I was so shocked about the outcome of everything.”
He also talked about how he wasn’t in touch with Cory at the time of his death. Something that probably was one of the reasons why he wasn’t invited to Cory’s funeral. He said:
“I never talked to him while he was in rehab. And then all of a sudden four weeks later he was out of rehab … I thought that was kind of soon…I didn’t get to go to his viewing. Which would have meant a lot. I guess they sprayed his ashes in a cove that he really enjoyed going to.”
Although their relationship may have been strained at the time of Cory’s death, the Glee star was still Joe’s son, and for a parent to lose a child is considered one of the worst heartbreaks in this world.
Joe also mentioned Lea Michele when he said:
“She’s a beautiful young woman, she’s just getting to the top of her career and I don’t expect her to go out and do it alone. She should enjoy life. She had a good time when she was with Cory, from what I understand, but life’s gotta go on.”
On Sunday, Lea paid her respects via her twitter page. He was the man she worked with and was in love with. She wasn’t the only one to do so, though.
See all of Cory’s friends and co-workers express their love for the gone-too-soon handsome young man:
Dot-Marie Jones tweeted
“AWW TODAY IS A TOUGH DAY! BUT I HOLD IN MY HEART SO MANY BEAUTIFUL & FUN MEMORIES! MISS & LOVE THIS MAN/BOY LOVE U A YEAR..I WILL ALWAYS HOLD DEAR THE AMAZING TIME I HAD WITH CORY! AS WE MOVE ON IN LIFE I KNOW HE IS MOVING ON IN A BEAUTIFUL PLACE!”
It’s been a year, we’re still not over the shock of His death – we know that wherever he is, he would want people to keep on living while always keeping him in their hearts. Which we, and many others, plan on doing. RIP Cory Monteith.
