Conor McGregor has rekindled the bad blood between himself and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The Irish fighter on Tuesday directed an insult at the wife of the UFC lightweight champion who beat him via fourth-round submission that led to his retirement.
In a tweet, he abused Nurmagomedov’s wife, and called her “a towel”
“Your wife is a towel, mate,” McGregor tweeted and added a photo from Nurmagomedov’s wedding in which the bride’s head and face are covered.
He deleted the tweet 15 minutes later and then asked for a rematch.
“Don’t be scared of the rematch you little scurrying rat,” he tweeted. “You will do what you are told like you always do.”
On Tuesday Nurmagomedov’s had doubted McGregor’s retirement, and called him a “jealous wife”.
“Conor acts like a jealous wife who says ‘I will leave’ all the time but then comes back.” Nurmagomedov said in an interview in Moscow.
The speech seems to have sparked off another row between the two which started during the lead up to their UFC 229 fight when McGregor talked about Nurmagomedov’s father, his religion and his country.
The verbal and physical jarring also continued after the fight when Nurmagomedov jumped into McGregor’s corner after his victory and started a brawl that involved both camps.
