Renowned writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has become the first Nigerian and youngest African to receive the UN Global Leadership Award.
She was honoured by the UN Foundation among other global leaders during its annual awards ceremony in New York.
The writer and women’s rights advocate was recognised for her work using literature and storytelling to connect with people across generations and cultures on issues of gender and racial equality and being a leader on the frontlines of global progress.
Former U.S. Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Kofi Annan are previous honourees in this category.
