British police are stationed outside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and are prepared to arrest WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange if he is expelled from the Ecuadorian Embassy.
The Wikileaks founder faces a warrant for his arrest in the United Kingdom, which he has managed to avoid by staying in the Ecuadorian embassy for years.
The British are now prepared to execute the warrant should the Australian leave the embassy.
This comes after a tweet citing a source in the Ecuadorian government said Ecuadoran President, who is facing corruption allegations triggered by a leaked document was seeking to expel Asange from the Embassy.
Wikileaks also tweeted from its official account that Asange would be ousted from the embassy.
“BREAKING: A high level source within the Ecuadorian state has told @WikiLeaks that Julian Assange will be expelled within ‘hours to days’ using the #INAPapers offshore scandal as a pretext–and that it already has an agreement with the UK for his arrest,”
The move to oust him from the Embassy by President Moreno is punishment for Asange’s involvement in the leak of the INA papers which implicated Moreno for corruption.
Asange through his lawyers have maintained he had nothing to do with the leak.
If arrested by the British police, he could possibly be extradited to the U.S where he faces charges too.
