The longest-reigning monarch of Britain, Queen Elizabeth II, has died in Scotland which makes Prince Charles the current king.

The death of Queen Elizabeth II is being mourned in Britain and across the world. Tributes pour in from across the country and the world after her death at age 96.

Few Britons have known another monarch, so the end of Elizabeth’s reign will thrust the royal family into days of mourning.

The news of the demise of the Queen was released via the official Twitter handle of the Royal Family.

The statement read ”The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
