The unrivaled spectacle that is the UEFA Champions League returns today. Ladies, a quick heads up, if your man is still in your arms by 7:45 and not glued to his television set, you need a man.
Now that we’ve cleared that up, there are a couple of reasons why Champions league football will be memorable tonight- minus the great football.
Arsenal host Bayer Munich today in what is a must encounter for them having lost their first two group matches. Arsenal have never lost three games in a row in the Champions League but no one will judge them too harshly if they lose to Bayern.
Bayern are in blistering form, having scored 25 and conceded just 2 in their last seven fixtures. Throw Lewandowsdki in there for good measure and the heart of the average Arsenal fan will just sink a little more.
A draw for Arsenal will be seen as a massive upset and will probably keep their qualification chances alive.
Chelsea look to shrug off their indifferent form as they travel to Ukraine to face Dynamo Kiev. Having lost their previous group game, a loss today will see more pressure mount on an already embattled Jose Mourinho.
Barcelona face BATE without the talismanic Lionel Messi but a frontline of Neymar and Suarez should have that covered, right? We’ve learnt all too often that football is not played on paper.
What are your predictions? Let me know. Happy viewing!
