The storm is barreling toward the Gulf Coast, expected to make landfall late Saturday or early Sunday as a Category 2 hurricane. The storm’s reach will be wide, with strong winds affecting New Orleans to Panama City, Florida. Biloxi, Mississippi, could experience gusts of 100 mph.
