Two Nigeria Air Force (NAF) jet has crashed inside a bush at Katampe Hill in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The jets are those being used for the aerial display rehearsal ahead of Nigeria’s 58th Independence Day celebration on October 1.
According to Katampe residents, the pilot in one of the jets and one occupant escaped with the aid of parachutes.
The number of people injured in the incident is yet to be ascertained as of the time of this report, but the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, who confirmed the incident, said no lives were lost in the mishap.
“I wish to confirm an air incident involving two NAF aircraft taking part in the 58th Independence Day celebrations. Thankfully, no lives were lost,” he said.
