Adire carnival resumes in Austria after three-year break
The Adire International Carnival returned on Saturday in Vienna, Austria, after a three-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event had participants dressed in black and yellow coloured adire materials and gathered beside the Nigerian Embassy waving Nigerian and Austria flags.
The parade started with a fanfare led by drummers and other musicians who thrilled participants with African tunes.
Other Nigerians from communities like Salzburg, Graz, Karten and Linz were present, including visitors from Ireland, UK, USA, Brazil, Paraguay, Bangladesh and Macedonia.
The carnival paraded through Rennweg Street, Schwarzenberg Square and the Vienna Ring Road in the city centre of Vienna and terminated at Hoffburg in front of the Welt Museum Vienna.
