Three Turkish soldiers, one policeman as well as a civilian have been killed in attacks on Turkey yesterday. Al Jazeera reports that suspected PKK fighters opened fire on a security convoy.
The latest attacks come after Turkey launched air strikes against strong holds of the Kurdish workers Party (PKK) as well as ISIL militants in Syria.
Turkey called an emergency NATO meeting last week, citing a threat to its territorial integrity and NATO has pledged support to Turkey.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said “We stand in strong solidarity with our ally Turkey,” and told the alliance “to address instability on Turkey’s doorstep and on NATO’s border”.
