Following a spate of bombings and terrorist attacks in Northern Nigeria in the past week, the Nigerian Police Force today indicated that there will be a commencement of stop and search operations on major highways and roads in the country.

The Inspector General of Police gave this directive through the NPF spokesman Abayomi Shogunle, “The special security measure is in no way a return of roadblocks. Any unprofessional conduct should be reported at www.stopthebribes.net or nearest Police Station”

The statement emphasized the fact that this is only a temporary measure and a stepping up of security to combat the Boko Haram militants.

The statement assured that this directive is in no way a return to the era of the notorious police roadblocks which many Nigerians have come to dread.
