About 50 years ago, Martin Luther King, Jr., his wife and other civil rights activists began a march from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama that will change the course of African American history.
We are so excited to announce that TWB will going to the movies this Wednesday (11th March)! We will be watching Oscar-nominated movie Selma, starring British-Nigerian actor David Oyelowo and Oprah Winfrey.
The movie is based on the 1965 Selma to Montgomery, Alabama voting rights march led by Martin Luther King, Jr. (played by Oyelowo) and other civil rights activists and has gained universal acclaim and draws inspiration and dramatic power from the life and death of Martin Luther King, Jr. — but doesn’t ignore how far we remain from the ideals his work embodied.
