President Goodluck Jonathan formally unveiled the new N100 commemorative notes honouring Nigeria’s centenary celebration today at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The new note was unveiled at the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting, in a presentation by the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
See the front and back of the new note after the cut.
The new note which has features for the visually impaired will be officially issued into circulation on Friday December 19, 2014.
It also has a Quick Response Code-QRC feature on the back of the note, making it the first ‘digital’ bank note in the world.
The QRC is an application found on the smart phone or Ipad. Once the barcode on the back of the note is scanned it shows the President’s face and then comes up with all information on Nigeria’s history.
Which do you prefer? The old or new design?
I cant help but wonder though, how spending so much money on ‘digitalized’ bank notes is so important when people are constantly dying in the North daily.
