Encomium Green and White Groove
As Nigeria clocks 52 on Monday October 1, Encomium Weekly and Primetime Entertainment rolled out the green carpet for the annual Green and White Groove. The famous independence party, put together to celebrate Nigeria has become one of the most important events on October 1st. It was promised and it got even better this year – with more star performances, higher celebrities attendance, a new and improved venue, and thousands of patriotic Nigerians coming out to celebrate their country.
‘’It’s the biggest, most exciting party celebrating the most populous Nation’s independence anniversary’ says Encomium publisher Kunle Bakare.
‘There are challenges, but every year, we move forward. This year, we celebrated our nation, and the positive-minded citizens who are determined to make Nigeria great, in spite of the many hurdles on the way’.

Arthur Guinness Day
To mark this year’s Arthur Guinness Day, Guinness Nigeria PLC recently staged a special gig in Lagos tagged the Guinness VIP Black Party, held at the La’ Mango, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, on 28th September 2012. The all-night groove attracted distinguished guests, including top players in the country’s showbiz, who were all dressed in black.
With frontline DJ Exclusive behind the wheels of steel, the party rocked till the early hours of the following day. Aside from the hits provided by the DJ, rap artiste, Illbliss, was on hand to thrill the gathering with his rhymes and rhythm. With his latest track, “Anam Achikwanu” and all time hit, “Aiye Kpogan”, the hefty rapper gave a good account of himself.
Cross River State-native, Inyanya, also got a slot to rock guests with Etighi dance.

Lagos Photo Festival 2012
The Lagos Photo Festival kicked off in Lagos on 13th Oct, 2012 and run until November 11, 2012.
LagosPhoto, launched in October 2010, is the first and only International Art Festival of Photography in Nigeria. It aims to promote positive social change by exhibiting relevant stories of Africa locally and abroad while fostering an exchange between local and international photographers to give a voice to the topics underrepresented on the continent and in popular media. Events include indoor exhibitions, workshops, large-scale outdoor prints displayed throughout the city with the aim of reclaiming Public Spaces and engaging the general public with the stories of Africa. LagosPhoto presents a contemporary and historic visual essay of the continent to a local and global audience.
The 2012 edition of LagosPhoto was titled “Seven Days in the Life of Lagos” and documented seven aspects of the life in the city over seven days, including but not limited to religion, architecture, culture, nightlife, economy, government, and infrastructure.
Twiterave 4
Twiterave is Nigeria’s first twitter party and awards event that takes place quarterly bringing together young people from the Twitter social network.
Twiterave 4 launched a blue carpet party on Oct. 27th, 2012 at Likwid Lounge in V.I.

Senator Ita Giwa Red Ball Event
On Sunday 23rd September 2012, the city of Lagos was definitely the place to be as some of the biggest names in the Nigerian entertainment industry gathered at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, for Senator Ita Giwa‘s Foundation for Children of Bakassi’s Charity event tagged “The Red Ball”.
Performances by 2Face Idibia and Tiwa Savage were some of the most buzzed about stories, but the one that truly got everyone excited was when top Nigerian actresses including Rita Dominic, Jenifa star, Funke Akindele-Oloyede, Shan George, Genevieve Nnaji, Joke Silva, Monalisa Chinda and Annie Macaulay-Idibia, strut the runway in stylish Indian and as well as sequined ensembles.

Elite Model Look Nigeria 2012
The city of Lagos, Nigeria was abuzz with Model talk, all through the last week of September. It was the 5th annual competition of the Elite Model Look Nigeria. Mrs Elohor Aisien (Former Miss Nigeria UK 2001/2002), very smart and resourcefully saw a gap in the industry and brought the Elite franchise to Nigeria. It was a super amazing event with an interesting turn out of the major names in fashion and entertainment. 10 beautiful bright young girls and 10 husky young boys, beautifully coiffed and turned out, all vying for the first position respectively.
The Judges were, Agbani Darego (Former Miss World), Kelechi Amadi-Obi (Ace Photographer and publisher of Mania Magazine), Stephane Pescimoro (Managing Director of Operations, Elite Paris) and yours humbly truly, Ezinne Chinkata (Fashion Consultant and Fashion Editor). Alas, a winner had to be announced, and thus it played out:For the girls, Moyin Arowosola, all bambi eyes and coltish legs, strutted steadily to finish first. In addition to her numerous awesome winning prizes, Moyin would be heading to China to get a chance to win a modeling contract with Elite Model Management Worldwide. The male category had Alvin Dayaffin bagging the gold!! He seemed quite shocked but still claimed his prizes with manly aplomb. Alvin would be heading on to Milan where he already has an international modeling contract with Elite Model Management Milan, Italy.

The weekly event which holds at the African bar located in the ultra exclusive Oriental hotels had in attendance, the entire crew of the empire mates entertainment just back from a world tour, the Egberi Papa one of Bayelsa, Jaywon, Iyanya, headmastar and so many other notable faces. All artistes on stage that night brought down the building with their hits and crowd favourites.
