Review + Exclusive Pictures From Wizkid UK Tour In London
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Friday 26th September was gridlock down at the IndigO2. I say that because I was there to witness firsthand what went down. The first day of the Wizkid UK Tour and I have to say ‘Sell-out’ is an understatement. It was an OVER-SELLOUT!!! (I had to create that word as I could not find one to describe what I saw).

The build up to this concert I have to say had been consistent. SMADE Entertaintment CEO ‘Junior Adeosun’ and the team made sure they were on top of things. Promotional updates were non-stop daily and the excitement was clear as everywhere one turned you were asked “Are you going to the Wizkid concert?” Hell yeah!!!

I arrived at the indigO2 just as the support acts were ready to hit the stage. Eddie Kadi warmed up the crowd with his usual energetic yet comical flow then brought on the first act. All the support acts did their thing from LDNC, Belynda, Temple and final support act Sonaman performed all 3 of his hit songs ‘No Wahala, Ijo Sona and Omodeyi’.

As Team Wizkid fans continued to fill up the already filled venue, the anticipation was clear. At every mention of Wizkid’s name the crowd was overly excited. The lights dimmed as Eddie Kadi made the long awaited announcement. As Wizkid approached the stage, the audience noise was so intense, screaming, cheering I’m surprised no one fainted. Lol

‘Don’t Dull’ was the opening song and Wizkid appeared on stage in a dappa suit. Everyone singing along, I couldn’t help but say to myself “This is going to be Epic”. Which song didn’t he sing would be the question? From ‘Tease Me, No LeLe, Samba, Jaiye Jaiye and the many favourite collabos, Slow Down, Time Bomb, Bad Girl, Pull Over, Surulere, Caro, Emi Ni Baller, Back To The Matter’ to which the likes of L.A.X, Maleek Berry and Chidinma joined him on stage, he sang them all and more. Even tracks off the newly released album ‘Ayo’.  He treated us to ‘Ojuelegba, In My bed, Show You the Money’ and trust me, he showed us the money as he started throwing $100 notes into the crowd. What amazed me and my friends I was standing with was that the album just dropped and the crowd were singing the new songs word for word. I got to say ‘Wizkid fans are Loyal’. ?

The amazing band ‘The Composers’ and the lovely ‘D3 Dancers’ did a fantastic job.

Wizkid didn’t forget to bring the entire Starboy team to the stage as he performed his last song. Also joining him on stage DJ Exclusive, Tinie Temper, Krept & Konan, Tinchy Stryder and others.

This Starboy delivered 100%. I had an expectation and he exceeded it. It wasn’t about pulling off his shirt and showing us a 6-pack, it was all about the music and he gave us a performance to remember. Am I a ‘Team Wizkid?’ If I wasn’t before (which I was) I would definitely have been converted after this concert. Who else can get me to say ‘Yeah Yeah’ so many times in one night? Lol

I’ve attended a few concerts this year and I have to say this concert is the best by far!!! Shoutout to SMADE Entertainment for their hard work and pulling off the show of the year.
