A statement from the head of The Silver Network, Mr. Winfred Baa read ” This change in date has come as a result of circumstances beyond our control as organizers, however We believe that the date change presents a fine opportunity for Ghanaians to experience the magnificent show that we have planned for them.”
Some top contenders for awards at this maiden edition include Joey B, MzVee, Kingzkid, Dee Moneey for the Choice Artiste Category, Clara Benson ( popularly known as Akwadaa Kyeiwaa / Rahim Banda of Bandex Movies / Cartoon of Efya Schwarzenegger fame for the male and female movie star awards.
Berla Addardey, Regina van Helvert and Jason all of Rythms on GhOne TV battle others for the male and female hottie awards while Jason and Regina double as hosts for the night along with Carl Hans Jorie and Marion Mills.
Other nominees on the biggest teen night are latest comedy sensation Kalybos, Funny face , Foster and DKB for the Choice Comedian Award.
The Teen Choice Awards is instituted to celebrate teen excellence and recognize various personalities who influence Teenagers across Ghana.
Mr. Baa explained that the TCA wasn’t reserved for teens only but all other public personalities whose activities affect and influence the lives of teenagers.
He mentioned that personalities such as CEO of Star FM – Nathan Kwabena Adisi(Bola Ray), Joycelyn Dumas, Sakodie, Asamoah Gyan have all achieved tremendous success in their chosen careers and are regarded as role models by teens.
“This awards event should not be seen as a competition between nominees but as a way of encouraging teens to strive for excellence in everything they do We take this opportunity to call on all Parents to come watch and support their kids on the event night.”
The event comes off on Saturday 23rd August 2014 at the Ghana National Theatre with performances from Joey B, MzVee, DoughMoneyBoys,Tsino Adams,Sean Taylor and a host of others.
