Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girls’ education campaigner who was shot by the Taliban few years ago, is in Nigeria right now instead of being anywhere in the world as she celebrates her 17th birthday.
She’s here to campaign on behalf of the schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram. Ms Yousafzai who was an early backer of the #BringBackOurGirls social media campaign.
She’s expected to meet with President Jonathan tomorrow Monday July 14th, as well as families of some of the missing Chibok girls
Her visit to Nigeria takes place almost three months to the day since the abduction of the girls and her presence is expected to add to the pressure on the Nigerian government.
