Son of the former Oyo State governor, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, has died in a fatal auto crash yesterday. The deceased, identified as Adebola Ladoja, was cruising in his Volkswagen Golf, with the registration number AKD 107 CJ, when the accident occurred on Eko Bridge, Lagos Island. According to an eyewitness, a speeding DAF truck, with registration number JJJ 59 XA, driven by one Justice Osaghai, lost control and ran into the median of the bridge before it rammed into the late Ladoja’s car, before fleeing. The witness also said some people gave the fleeing driver of the truck a hot chase, before they succeeded in apprehending him, Leadership reports.
“People who wanted to rescue the victim broke into the vehicle where he was trapped behind the wheel, as blood gushed out of his head and other parts of his body. Policemen and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASMA) rescued the driver when the mob wanted to lynch him.” The Lagos State Police spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the accident and the identity of the deceased said the accident occurred at about 3.30pm. Braide said the victim died on the spot and the corpse has since been deposited at the mortuary of the Lagos Island General Hospital for an autopsy while the truck driver has been arrested.
