Traditional religion worshipers have accused President Goodluck Jonathan of marginalization on National Conference.
In a letter signed by Prince Adigun Olosun, a Babalawo, demand the 18 slots allocated to other religions, Christianity and Islam while reminding Mr Jonathan that Traditional religion are imported religions.
“We as bonafide Nigerians and very active citizens hereby demand for our slots as Traditionalists. The rights which the Moslems and Christians have, that are what we Traditionalists have also as enshrine in the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria”
“Sir, the Moslems and Christians got 18 slots each; we also demand our own 18 slots in the spirit of religious fairness. And as a reminder, Islam and Christianity came to Nigeria recently why Traditional religion had been in existence from the time immemorial. How religions that came recently would now be treated better than the one that our
Ancestors had been practicing for long time” the President, World League of Traditional Religions stated.
The religious body stated the National Conference is a right idea but urged President Jonathan to give all religious stakeholders including Traditional worshipers to have equal and fair representation.

DR. GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN,
PRESIDENT,
COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF ARMED FORCES,
FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
ASO ROCK PRESIDENTIAL VILLA,
ABUJA.Excellency sir,
MARGINALISATION OF TRADITIONALISTS ON PROPOSED NATIONAL CONFERENCE: WE
DEMAND OUR 18 SLOTI write as the president of World League of Traditional Religions on
the position of Traditionalist in Nigeria on their marginalisation on
the National Conference starting 3rd March 2014.We Traditionalists are not happy that you did not think of us as
active citizens and stakeholders in Nigeria Project on the coming
national conference.
We as bonafide Nigerians and very active citizens hereby demand for
our slots as Traditionalists. The rights which the Moslems and
Christians have, that are what we Traditionalists have also as
enshrine in the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Sir, the Moslems and Christians got 18 slots each; we also demand our
own 18 slots in the spirit of religious fairness. And as a reminder,
Islam and Christianity came to Nigeria recently why Traditional
religion had been in existence from the time immemorial. How religions
that came recently would now be treated better than the one that our
Ancestors had been practicing for long time.
The idea of a National Conference at this time is noble, but it is
crucial to have all religious stakeholders including Traditional
worshippers to have equal and fair representation.
It will not be in the interest of Nigeria for us to go to court to
stop the national conference until our rights are given to us. In
order for us not to put a hold to the national conference legally, we
demand your quick intervention by giving us our own 18 slots before
the commencement of the national conference.
We are now given you ultimatum and grace of one week which lapsed on
March 3, 2014, if not we will go and seek redress in the court of law.
Just for you to know, we also have the powers with our votes and
spiritual to make your second term which you really wish to have to
happen. We are eagerly waiting for your quick response till March 3,
2014.
We wish you well, and we wish you success in your leadership.
Accept our highest regards
Long live Nigeria.
Blessings of Irunmole on you.
