The National Executive Council meeting scheduled to take place today by the ASUU leadership has been suspended.
ASUU National President, Nasiru Fagge, stated this on Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting which was initially meant to take place at the Bayero University, Kano wasreportedly suspended due to the unfortunate death of Festus Iyayi, former ASUU president, who died in a car crash yesterday on his way to the said meeting.
Mr. Iyayi was involved in a ghastly auto accident allegedly caused by the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada.
Several delegates needed to make a decision on the nearly five month old strike were already in Kano before news of the postponement trickled in.
ASUU has been on strike since July 1 and the NEC meeting was to deliberate on the resolutions of various chapters of ASUU on whether the strike should be suspended or not.
Why should they postponed the strike?RIP TO OUR FORMER ASUU PRESIDENT.Asuu have to call off this strike to respect the death of our former asuu president
Asuu should deliberately think of what the federal government did to them in the 2009 agreement before considering any offer given to them by the federal government.
FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING BASTARD.I DONT THINK YOU ARE A STUDENT.JOBLESS FELLOW,SMELLOWS
Am sayin this with voice of all Nigerian students,we r no more,no more! Supportin this group(Asuu) for playin with our minds, there are d real deceivers, there doing nothing, rather, they encourage livin us at home, always draggin with our hearts, after they ve send there kidx abroad to study,if nt!pray for him datx d best thing, just bcos of d postpondin of d NEC meetings a lot of us will have no respect for ur selfish union,God! We always seek ur help,..Nigerian students..we want asuu to be cancelled
The ongoing Assu strike has caused alot of Nigerians harm than good, the FG and the union should try and resolve this issue, b4 accident will claim all d lives of d under graduate and the lecturer as well. Thanks
wit all due respect for de dead, dey shuld just call off de strike to avoid any more complications dan it has already been
Is your life that accident will claim. You will die alone.
I really do agree with you on that statement as it is the exact point…I’ve all in my head!…*thumbs up*_#Remain_Real
A total show of confusion all to the detriment of the subjects (students). After all these wasted years, many will graduate with one quarter education. These and a lot of the best brains will perish for many more years at home due to lack of jobs. We are like sheep without a shepherd.
This is a “cold” and silent war existing in the country. Do we still need to hire foreigners for “neocolonial” education – just as usual in the oil sector? Can anyone tell me what we can do for ourselves? We are talking about transferring the archaic, out of fashion half baked 1960’s, ’70’s education. Yet we keep “holding talks” all amounting to nothing. (Hey you citizen, stop eating, stop drinking, reshuffle your food, reshuffle your GP tanks, pay your tax, pay your rent, no pension, doctors on strike, universities on strike, boko haram, accidents on the rise, 27billion is lost, Chairman is dead, election is near, postpone your talks, ….Chei!) Uwa NtoooOOOOOH! Na waah 4 WAEC! WE ARE NOT FIT AT ALL TO ANSWER A SOVEREIGN NATION! Tell me our focus if you say it is not so!
Wot sadness! Prof RIP. It would have been another asuu member instead prof Festus. Asuu mind u, u wil reap wot u soul. It cleared to every that u are making struggle to enrich ur pocket. If u refuse to call off u wil c wot would happen to u individually. Upon bribery u collected 4rm students. Most corrupt association.
Asuu should mourn iyayi festus for 3 days and call off strike there after!
It’s been destined that iyayi will die in an auto crash,be that it may it happend.
I commiserate with ASUU and entire Nigerian students
Asuu shld @tleast respect d heroe dt died on ds issue of strike,to gv him d last respect nd kall off d strike cs he died of saving d education of d students…
Nawaoooo asuu shud consider we nigeria student nd call of de strike na……….
RIP to our great prof, bt asuu hv to call of strike, peopl ar wasting at home
i just believe on The will of God.If God say yes,no body can say no,viseversa
ASUU, Pls call off this strike.we are depreciating at home as our market value will be zero.take for instance, children of the so-called ASUU and FG that went abroad to study.their ages will favour them in the labour market but we that dont have public and tax payers money to go to school abroad will be off-age for the labour market.
there hs 2 b a student b4 lecturer, our lecturers have 4gotn d bridge dy also crossd,dy think dy ar teachin STONES,no regard 2 our feelins or opinions, some students have lost their lives too& even their future but were not recognised by asuu, now their own ‘ top’ is affected,a fulfild prof,we ar forced 2 mourn along 4 indefinite period,ok while register our deep condolences pls lets look into my own problm which is wen do i finish just a 1st degree not Phd or Msc & go 4 my ‘ASUUSSSS..strike,u peopl ar waistin my time ooo,d strike is too much,we want 2 lose any student or lecturers again, collect wat OGA has nw let’s enter class abeg,or wud u wait til we all die in goin 4 meetings, our blood wil b on asuu’s WISE BATTLE DAT DOESNT END
I pray that none of these people will one day stand up to say they are passionate about Nigeria. It is worrisome that they complain about infrastructure, what do we see them do with funds collected from people writing post UTME exams? They make students buy handouts instead of handing them out as the name implies. Their government is not corrupt, is it? Evil men in terrible association to destroy Nigerian youth. .
Hisa soul RIP for the death of our frmer asuu prsdnt, asuu suport to pospnted the meeting for two days bcs we student we re in a trble.
Thumb up @ Nwokeoma! I pity some wretched Nigerians dat claim dey re proud of dia nationality.wat den can deze fellows boast of? Y is man said 2 b free but re seen on chains everywhere? Fellow Nigerians, behold a clarion call 4 reality;it is,Nigeria is just an underdeveloping country! But remember oh Lord dat u can do all tins and no purpose of urs can b thwarted!
Asuu and FG do dat wich is right in d sight of d Almighty God. Tym is wastin 4 notin on d side of Nigerian stds.
