In a touching video on social media, famous Nigerian comedian Helen Paul opened up about her difficult childhood and how she faced challenges because of how she was born.
Helen revealed that she was born because of a bad situation called rape, and as she grew up, people around her called her hurtful names like “bastard.” Even her own family members said things that made her feel like she wouldn’t achieve anything good in life.
She shared, “When my family members gave money to my grandmother for food, they told her not to use it on me, but to take care of herself. They called me a ‘bastard child.'”
Despite these painful experiences, Helen found strength in herself. She realized that her family’s negative words couldn’t define her. Even though she was told she wouldn’t do well in life, she proved them wrong.
Helen explained, “But today, I am a comedian in Nigeria and a professor in the United States.”
Her story shows that no matter how tough things may seem, with determination and strength, you can overcome challenges and achieve your dreams. Helen Paul is an inspiration to many, reminding us that our past doesn’t have to determine our future.
