The family of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group, has vehemently denied any involvement in alleged plans to disrupt the upcoming inauguration of the new administration in Abia State or any other part of Nigeria on Monday.
In a statement issued by the family, they emphasized that they are not part of any plot to cause disorder or disaffection on May 29, and have no intention of participating in any activities that may undermine the peace and stability of the country.
Prince Emmanuel Kanu, speaking on behalf of the family, categorically dismissed the claims linking them or IPOB to any plan to disrupt the inauguration. He labeled such accusations as mischievous attempts to blackmail the family and the movement.
“We are not part of it. Anybody behind such a plot should count us out of it. We are not involved, and we discourage such actions. Those promoting such activities are the real enemies of our people,” Prince Emmanuel Kanu stated emphatically.
He further emphasized that both the Kanu family and IPOB are advocates of peace and will continue to promote peaceful means of achieving their objectives. Their primary focus remains securing the release of Nnamdi Kanu, rather than engaging in any activities that could disrupt the inauguration or any other event.
Prince Emmanuel Kanu urged the public to disregard any rumors or social media reports associating the family or IPOB with any unholy acts during the May 29 inauguration. He urged caution and advised individuals to verify information from credible sources before accepting it as true.
The statement from the Kanu family seeks to clarify their position and dissociate themselves from any potential acts of disruption or disorder. They aim to prevent their name and the name of the IPOB from being associated with actions that could undermine peace and stability in the region.
As Nigeria prepares for the inauguration of the new administration, the focus remains on ensuring a smooth and peaceful transition of power, while the Kanu family continues their efforts to secure the release of their detained leader.
