President Muhammadu Buhari alongside other dignitaries arrived Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos for the commissioning of Aliko Dangote’s refinery.
“Today, May 22, 2023, is indeed a historic day as Aliko Dangote, the richest black man in the world, is the visionary behind the massive project being commissioned today. A young man who left Kano in 1977 at the age of 20, and came to Lagos, in search of fortune and fulfillment.” Sanwo-Olu praised Dangote’s latest achievement in a tweet.
The governor of Lagos State was not the only special guest at the event, Peter Obi, Kashim Shettima, Senator Ahmed Lawan, President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo, and a host of others also graced the occasion.
Dangote’s refinery will refine 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day and transform crude oil into different uses of petroleum products such as diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, and kerosene.
