The National Population Commission will receive 2.8 billion naira for software procurement for the National Census in May 2023, as approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, announced that the census was rescheduled from March 29 to May 2023 due to the postponement of governorship elections from March 11 to March 18.

In addition, FEC has given its approval for Nigeria Agenda 2050, a plan aimed at achieving a seven per cent increase in real GDP growth, creating 165 million new jobs and reducing the number of people living in poverty to 2.1 million by 2050.

This plan was introduced 29 months after President Buhari inaugurated the National Steering Committee for the preparation of the Medium-Term National Development Plan 2021 to 2025 and Nigeria Agenda 2050.

The ultimate objective is for Nigeria to attain the status of an Upper Middle-Income Country and eventually a High-Income country by 2050.
