On Sunday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made a surprising appearance at the Harvesters church in Lekki, Lagos.
He stationed himself at the entrance and shook hands with worshippers, particularly youths, as they left the premises, after being given the opportunity to address the congregation by the church authorities.
However, the governor’s unexpected presence caused a stir, as the audience expressed their disapproval towards the man they hold accountable for the #EndSARS massacre of October 20, 2020.
Since his ruling All Progressives Congress suffered defeat in the February 25 presidential election in Lagos, Mr Sanwo-Olu has been actively trying to connect with disenchanted Lagos voters, particularly the youth, in a bid to secure a second term in the upcoming polls.
Nonetheless, his ambition faces an unprecedented challenge from the Labour Party, which ended his party’s dominance in Lagos during the last presidential election.
