Hon. Obinna Ichita, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) deputy governorship candidate for Abia State, stated that if APGA’s government is elected, they will make aggressive efforts to secure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Ichita, who is also the incumbent member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Aba South state constituency, clarified that Kanu is not a part of the insecurity in the South East, but instead part of its solution.
Ichita stressed the importance of a political solution rather than a violent approach to resolving the impasse between self-determination agitators and the Federal Government. He urged the government to engage Kanu instead of treating him as an enemy, adding that even wars are resolved on a negotiation table.
Ichita also promised that if elected, the APGA-led government would take responsibility for pursuing Kanu’s release, as he is a son of Abia State. He called on the Federal Government to heed the appeals of eminent personalities to release Kanu, as ordered by the courts of the land.
