After suffering a heavy defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, Manchester United bounced back in the Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday with a 4 -1 win against Real Betis at Old Trafford.
Goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, and Wout Weghorst were enough to see the Red Devils have total control of the tie.
Arsenal also squared up Sporting Lisbon with the Gunners securing a 2-2 draw in Thursday’s first leg at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Lisbon.
William Saliba opened the scoring with a 22nd-minute header from Fábio Vieira’s corner before Sporting scored at the other end 12 minutes later as Gonçalo Inácio glanced home Marcus Edwards’ delivery.
Paulinho gave the home side the lead 10 minutes into the second half. Arsenal scored an equalizer in the 62 minutes after Sporting CP’s Hidemasa Morita diverted Granit Xhaka’s shot into his net.
The draw leaves everything to play for at the Emirates. Arsenal still has a chance of winning a double this season. The second leg fixtures in the Europa League will take place on the 16th of March, 2023.
