The Labour Party’s candidate for governorship, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, expressed his sorrow about the fire outbreak that occurred at the Akere Spare Parts Market on Kirikiri Road, Akere Bus Stop, Olodi-Apapa in Ajegunle on Wednesday morning. In a tweet from his Twitter handle, he stated that seeing such incidents happen in Lagos was heartbreaking and that it needed to stop.

Rhodes-Vivour visited the scene and described the fire outbreak as unfortunate. He tweeted that he was on the ground at the Akere Market to assess the damage caused by the fire allegedly set by an arsonist and political thugs.

The LP Lagos Governorship candidate believes that politics should be about ideas, not violence. He encouraged the people of Ajegunle not to be intimidated and assured them that they would rebuild the market together. He reiterated that Lagos is built on harmony and cooperation, and that despicable violence and fanning the flames of ethnic tension have no place in this beautiful state.

Rhodes-Vivour emphasized that everyone must live together in Lagos after the elections, and that no political ambition is worth the lives or livelihood of the people. He also stated that no place should be threatened or destroyed because of differing political choices. He concluded his message by reiterating that it breaks his heart to see such incidents happen in Lagos, and that it must come to an end.

I am on the ground in Akere Market, Ifelodun to assess the damage done by a fire allegedly set by an arsonist & political thugs.

This is most unfortunate. Our politics should be about ideas, not violence.
