Labour Party, APC disagree over attack on Obi

At a press conference in Abuja, the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council accused Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, of exploiting the emotions of Nigerian youth and leveraging religiosity and ethnicity for his campaign.

The Council asserted that Obi would go down in history as the country’s “most dangerous and divisive politician”.

Dele Alake, the Special Adviser on Media and Communication of the PCC, expressed disbelief that a divisive politician like Obi could take advantage of Nigerian youths who were earnestly in search of a hero. He criticized Obi for presenting himself as a champion of Nigeria’s fault lines and elevating his clannish mentality to an unfortunate height.

Alake urged both the PDP and LP to pursue their grievances through legal means and avoid inflammatory rhetoric.

However, Yunusa Tanko, the spokesman of Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, accused the APC of engaging in a desperate attempt to shield their fear, arguing that Obi posed a threat to their dominance.

Tanko also claimed that the APC had allocated results to states through the help of criminal-minded individuals, and that this had been exposed.
