IReV remains secure, outstanding problems will be fixed, says INEC
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) assured Nigerians that its Results Viewing Portal (IReV) is still secure and has not been compromised or sabotaged.

The commission is aware of the challenges with the portal and is working to resolve them as soon as possible. The IReV and BVAS were new technologies introduced by the electoral body for the accreditation and electronic transmission of votes for this year’s polls, but glitches occurred during the process.

INEC Commissioner, Festus Okoye, apologized for the setback and promised that the technical team is working hard to resolve the outstanding problems.

The results from the polling units are safe on both the BVAS and the IReV portal, and any discrepancy between them and the physical results used in collation will be investigated and remedied.

The commission takes full responsibility for the problems and regrets the distress caused to candidates, political parties, and the electorate. It is important to avoid statements and actions that can heat up the polity or promote disaffection towards the commission at this time.
