According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the collation of the presidential election results from polling units in Lagos State will now take place on Sunday.

The State Collation Officer, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, informed journalists and election observers at INEC’s collation centre in Yaba, Lagos, that the delay was due to the unavailability of the results.

Oladiji emphasized the importance of the national and international assignment and the need to follow the well-established procedures of INEC. To avoid unnecessary waiting, it was proposed that they reconvene at 10 am on Sunday when some of the results would be released, and they would be able to collate the results.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner for INEC Lagos, Mr Olusegun Agbaje, confirmed that the collation of the presidential election results would be made from the Local Governments, then spread to Federal Constituencies, 24 in total in the state, and finally to the three senatorial districts.

Mr. Agbaje thanked the Heads of Departments for their continuous collaboration, and they ensured that as many people as possible were encouraged to cast their votes during the presidential election, despite some hitches here and there.
