Atiku doesn’t deserve Rivers votes, says Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State criticized Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for holding a town hall meeting in Abuja instead of Rivers State.

The governor stated that Atiku’s actions had portrayed Rivers State as unsafe, and therefore he did not deserve votes from the state. Wike further stated that the electorate would vote for a candidate who was committed to the unity of Nigeria and could serve as a unifier.

Speaking at the Emohua Local Government Area, where he flagged off the reconstruction and dualisation of Emohua Road to Abalama/Tema Junction, Wike emphasized that the people who attended Atiku’s meeting were not true Rivers citizens and should return to the state to be addressed by the candidate.

He also criticized the summoning of non-indigenes to a meeting outside the state, which he deemed unacceptable and an insult to the people of Rivers. The governor challenged the electorate to reject any attempt at blackmail or intimidation and to vote for the candidate who had the welfare of the state and the interest of Nigeria at heart.

Wike expressed his preparedness for the upcoming election and said that the Rivers electorate would show that they were the true owners of the state and were committed to equity, fairness, and justice.
